NEW YORK: What do the mayor of Jerusalem, the Christian Coalition of America, and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' Blue Flame Marketing have in common?
Ron Torossian, of course.
The three have all retained his recently founded firm, 5W Public Relations.
Just five months after leaving Golin/Harris' MWW Group to join New York-based KCSA Public Relations Worldwide as an MD, Torossian has struck out on his own with a client list that is not lacking in variety.
Although Torossian, who worked for a time as a spokesman and advisor to Israel's conservative Likud Party, has a background in public affairs and government, he said he wants his firm to have a broad focus.
"I think our client list shows that we can handle many different types of clients," said Torossian. "Currently, we have practice areas in corporate communications, non-profit, and public affairs."
Other early clients include Israel's Ben Gurion University, Marriott Hotels, and the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.
Torossian did not directly address the timing of the move, or exactly how long he had been planning to jump ship from KCSA.
"I've wanted to open my own agency for quite some time," he explained. "The timing seemed right about now."
Barry Liben, CEO of travel agency Tzell Travel, provided Torossian with seed money for the firm. Liben will sit on 5W's board of directors.
"Barry is a successful entrepreneur who will be an important advisor to the firm," said Torossian.
