LOS ANGELES: Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has promoted Geoffrey Ammer to president of worldwide marketing for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group. He was formerly the studio's domestic marketing head.

Ammer will now oversee the global marketing, publicity, and promotions departments. He will continue to report to Jeff Blake, vice chairman of SPE.

Ammer joined Columbia in 2001, and has helped plan the campaigns for blockbusters such as Spider-Man and xXx.

"Geoff has been pivotal to Sony's success," Blake said. "He is one of the most imaginative, strategic, and successful marketing executives working today."

Ammer is presently working on campaigns for upcoming films such as Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Bad Boys II.

Before Columbia, Ammer headed marketing at Revolution Studios. Prior to that, he spent five years as co-head of Disney's Buena Vista Motion Picture Group's marketing department, and 12 years at Fox.
