ATLANTA: Jumping back to the agency side after 10 years in corporate PR, Ellen Weaver Hartman joined Weber Shandwick's Atlanta office as president last week.
"This kind of job doesn't open up often," Hartman said. "I've been active in the Atlanta market and the PRSA, and this was a great place for me to jump to."
Before joining WS, Hartman served as VP and chief communications officer for AFC Enterprises, the parent company of Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, Church's Chicken, Cinnabon, and Seattle's Best Coffee. Her resume also includes positions with Coca-Cola, MasterCard, Kraft, Avon Products, and Frito Lay, as well as nearly 15 years of agency experience.
Prior to Hartman's appointment, Ken Luce, president of WS Dallas, managed the Atlanta office after Ris Cowan, former head of the Atlanta outpost, was let go in October.
"Atlanta is an important growth market for Weber Shandwick, and Ellen's leadership will be instrumental in helping our Atlanta office to thrive and grow," said Andy Polansky, president of WS' North America operations.
Hartman said, "My goal is to grow this office, and capitalize on the incredible talent I have through the people at WS."
