WASHINGTON: Last week, Ketchum's government relations and lobbying firm, The Washington Group (TWG), snagged recently departed White House economic adviser Carlos Bonilla. He will join as an SVP.
Bonilla most recently served as special assistant to President Bush on economic policy.
He was part of the Bush economic team that was tasked with stabilizing the aviation industry in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. He was also part of the tax policy team, held the labor and aviation portfolios at the National Economic Council, and was responsible for ensuring that trade flowed across the borders and through ports in light of enhanced security concerns.
Although Bonilla will work on aviation issues at TWG, he says he will also concentrate on other areas.
"Given my prior experiences, I also anticipate working on labor- and employment-related issues, in addition to those pertaining to homeland security," said Bonilla.
Before joining the Bush campaign, Bonilla served as an economist for the House Budget Committee. He also spent a year as a senior fellow at The Heritage Foundation.
