NEW YORK: Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has appointed Barby Siegel to head the global marketing practice.

NEW YORK: Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has appointed Barby Siegel to head the global marketing practice.

Siegel replaces Mark Curran, who resigned last fall. A lengthy interim period saw Cheryl Overton, head of the New York marketing practice, in the position.

Siegel spent the last 11 years at Edelman. Her most recent title was EVP/deputy GM of consumer brands, New York.

"We were looking for someone who not only has incredible consumer-marketing PR experience, but for an individual who truly understands the power of branding," said Marcia Silverman, Ogilvy CEO.

Siegel's background includes PR experience in electronics, retail, fashion, and food. Her previous accounts include Unilever, Hershey's, AT&T Wireless, and Kinko's.

Siegel's appointment comes on the heels of Al Tortorella being named head of the global corporate practice last month.
