MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Storage software company Veritas is issuing an RFP for a new AOR. The search will be handled in-house.

Veritas has worked with Applied Communications for two-and-a-half years, but the agency has declined an invitation to participate in the RFP.

"We found that there is no constructive purpose," said Dan Enright, Applied's VP of business development and marketing. "We are terribly disappointed that Veritas is moving in this direction." Enright added that his firm had done successful work for the client.

Veritas' VP of corporate communications Marlena Fernandez said she is looking for a PR agency that can offer scale. "I felt that Applied has done good work. But from a scaling capacity, I think they're a bit limited by their size."

Fernandez said she would eye worldwide agencies with strong technology backgrounds.

The search will be fast, as the company wants a new agency by Labor Day. Two firms Fernandez said she will contact are Hill & Knowlton and Bite, which handle Veritas' PR in Canada and the UK, respectively.
