TOY BOX: ViewSonic's V35 displays itself proudly

ViewSonic's V35 Pocket PC is a highly functional and economical PDA choice for PC users. The crisp, full-color display also looks great on the 3.5" screen.

ViewSonic's V35 Pocket PC is a highly functional and economical PDA choice for PC users. The crisp, full-color display also looks great on the 3.5" screen.

It's preloaded with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Windows Media Player - a familiar look and feel which makes for intuitive navigation. The built-in voice recorder can be used for adding audio notes to documents and e-mails. Equipped with a headphone jack, the V35 also functions as an MP3 player. As is standard on most PDAs, users have the option of entering text via on-screen keyboard or handwriting recognition options. I found the non-keyboard methods frustrating and unreliable, but no more than other devices I've tried with this capability. Synching the V35 with my computer was seamless. Selecting the programs and files you want sent to the Pocket PC, as well as how frequently it gets updated, is a very easy and prominently displayed option in the Microsoft ActiveSync window. The verdict: Save ViewSonic's cheesy bird logo, I have no reservations recommending the V35. Any questions? Write us at toybox@prweek.com
