LOS ANGELES: L'Oreal USA, the American-based branch of the world's largest cosmetics maker, has picked Rebecca Caruso as its new head of PR. She will take on the title EVP of corporate communications and external relations.

Caruso will be in charge of all internal and external communications efforts, including oversight of the company's diversity initiatives. She will also manage the company's government relations and corporate philanthropy efforts. She reports to L'Oreal president and CEO Jean-Paul Agon.

Before taking her new role at L'Oreal, Caruso served as VP of corporate communications for Toys R Us.

"We believe that Rebecca's experience as a career public relations and communications professional and her association with strong corporate brands will enhance the strategic communications, diversity, and external affairs efforts of our company," said Agon.

Caruso replaces John Wendt, who retired from the company in December after 23 years.

L'Oreal recently garnered press coverage for signing actor Ben Affleck to promote a line of male grooming products.
