FOSTER CITY, CA: David Demarest, Visa International's EVP of global corporate relations and communications, has left to pursue other interests. After nearly five years at Visa, Demarest decided to move on after Malcolm Williamson's June announcement that he would not return as president and CEO when his current term ends in March.

Demarest oversaw all aspects of Visa's communications, both internal and external, said Russ Yarrow, SVP of global corporate relations. Demarest's duties will now fall to John Elkins, EVP of global brand management and corporate relations.

Elkins joined Visa in April as head of global brand management and marketing, leading branding efforts including global marketing partnerships and sponsorship. Elkins will retain those duties, as well as taking on Demarest's global PR tasks.

Elkins is the founder and ex-CEO of FutureBrand, a global brand consulting firm that is a division of Interpublic Group.
