CHICAGO: Michelle Holland, a former PR director at Unilever, has joined Edelman as the new EVP of the agency's US consumer practice.

Holland will report to Pam Talbot, president and COO of Edelman US, and Mitch Markson, president of consumer brands and global creative director. Holland will work out of Edelman's Chicago office.

At Unilever, she was most recently PR director for the company's home- and personal-care brands in North America, working on such products as Axe deodorant, Dove hair-care products, and Thermasilk's sponsorship of pop star Michelle Branch's recent tour. Earlier in her career, Holland worked for Burson-Marsteller and Hill & Knowlton.

Edelman's consumer practice works with such brands as Barilla, Hershey's, KFC, Kraft, and Microsoft.

In another key staff move, Edelman promoted Kevin Cook to GM of its reputation-management practice. He will now head that group out of the firm's Chicago office. Cook has been with Edelman for nine years.
