Stouse set to take on Dell in his new external role at HP

PALO ALTO, CA: Hewlett-Packard has moved Mark Stouse from corporate communications to head communications for the personal system group (PSG).

PALO ALTO, CA: Hewlett-Packard has moved Mark Stouse from corporate communications to head communications for the personal system group (PSG).

As senior director of worldwide external communications, Stouse will oversee communications for HP's more consumer-facing products, such as PCs and PDAs.

"It's a tremendous opportunity to impact the HP brand," said Stouse, who was director of worldwide competitive communications when he was on the corporate communications team. "What PSG sells are products that the consumer touches on a daily basis."

As director of competitive communications, Stouse targeted IBM, EMC, Sun Microsystems, and Dell. But by running communications for PSG, he has only Dell is in his crosshairs, particularly as Dell moves into the consumer electronics space by offering PDAs and MP3 players.

"Dell is our primary competitor in this market, and we will continue to push the two-horse race in our messaging," said Stouse. "We're going to focus on our total customer experience that outclasses Dell."
