NEW YORK: GQ PR director Lisa Dallos is leaving that men's magazine to head up communications for Wenner Media's stable of magazines, as well as its new book division.

Dallos, a magazine and TV publicity veteran who has done tours at CNN, George, and Talk magazine, replaces Stuart Zakim, who was recently let go by the company. Her title will be director of corporate communications. She will begin her tenure at Wenner on January 12.

Her magazine charges will be Rolling Stone, Us Weekly, and Men's Journal. She declined to speculate in detail on the approach she'll bring.

"I want to continue to be able to highlight and expose the Wenner properties for their high quality and good journalism," said Dallos.

Most recently, Dallos was responsible for introducing GQ's new editor Jim Nelson to the magazine press, a process that was clouded by the death of his legendary predecessor Art Cooper.

Zakim's tenure at Wenner was marked by the PR victory that was Us Weekly and the rise of Bonnie Fuller, its former editor. Fuller, now editorial director at supermarket-tabloid publisher American Media, remains a media darling whose every step is chronicled by reporters. Zakim was also responsible for Us' synergies with Disney media properties.

Zakim's next step is uncertain. "I want to talk to as many people as possible and find something that will allow me to utilize my background not only in publishing, but my time in the movie business," he said.

Before joining Wenner, Zakim had stints at Columbia and Universal Pictures.
