Resnick quits job at Merc Exchange to open new shop

CHICAGO: The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) is searching for a new director of corporate relations after the resignation of Ellen Resnick.

Resnick had worked at the futures and options exchange for nine years. She plans to launch her own communications consultancy next month, and will remain in Chicago.

The exchange is handling the search in-house, and is not working with outside search firms, said Anita Liskey, the exchange's director of corporate communications.

A posting on the exchange's website notes that the position will oversee media relations, financial communications, and crisis communications, and serve as director of the CME Foundation.

Resnick handled communications as the CME in 2002 became the first US exchange to convert to a publicly owned corporation. She said counseling on IPO communications needs will likely form part of her new consultancy.

"I certainly think I have a good deal to offer for a company in that position," she said. Resnick also will seek clients in financial services, a sector she's been involved with since 1991.
