NEW YORK: Alain de Pouzilhac, chairman and CEO of marketing holding company Havas, has chosen Jim Heekin to be CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide, effective immediately. Heekin was formerly chairman and CEO of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup and McCann-Erickson Worldwide. He takes the reins from Bob Schmetterer, who has decided to retire.

"I am confident he is going to develop even further its excellent reputation with existing global clients and win new ones, rendering Euro RSCG Worldwide even more competitive," said de Pouzilhac of Heekin in a release. "His career with McCann-Erickson is the proof that he is a manager of outstanding quality."

In the release, de Pouzilhac credited Heekin for the Creative Business Ideas and Power of One organizations "which are today at the heart of Euro RSCG Worldwide strategy."

The move, which according to a release had been in the works for several months, comes only two days after Euro RSCG Worldwide announced the merger of PR agencies Magnet Communications and Euro RSCG Middleberg into what will be known as Euro RSCG Magnet. That firm will be headed by Magnet CEO David Kratz.
