WASHINGTON: APCO Worldwide named Henry Storgaard MD of its Canada office last week. Previously an SVP with the firm, Storgaard joined APCO in 2003 after GPC International acquired his two marketing firms, Henry Strogaard and Associates and SA Design Group.

WASHINGTON: Exact Words, a new agency catering to startups and nonprofits, launched in Northern Virginia last week. Clients include Red File, a digital risk management startup; DADS Unlimited, a parenting consulting and resource organization; and The Soap Box Coalition, a foundation promoting political activism among 18- to 30-year-olds. President and CEO Scott Beller, formerly of Fleishman-Hillard and Weber Shandwick Worldwide, leads the agency.

CHICAGO: Johnsonville Sausage, the nation's largest producer of fresh sausage products including brats, Italian sausage and breakfast sausage, has named Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide PR as its AOR.

PASADENA, CA: The Brandeis-Bardin Institute, a Jewish educational outreach center, has selected Lexicon Communications to assist it in national strategic communications and local community outreach initiatives.

SANTA MONICA, CA: Murphy O'Brien has appointed Allyson Rener president of the agency. She has served as EVP since 1999 and oversees all operations of the 20-person staff.

CHICAGO: Dan Pooley has been named director of CKPR's 35-person Chicago office. Pooley, who had been an SVP at Weber Shandwick, will report to MD Joel Curran. Curran had been running the Chicago office the past year while the agency searched for a new director.

CINCINNATI: Pamela Lowe has joined Cintas Corporation as VP, corporate communications. Lowe had been director of national events for The Speaking of Women's Health Foundation in Cincinnati. She served in the White House public affairs office during the Reagan administration.

SAN FRANCISCO: Nspired Natural Foods has hired Straus Communications as its AOR. Straus will handle consumer and trade PR. The agency specializes in working with clients in the organic and natural foods areas.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI: Straightline Public Relations will handle PR and marketing activities for Miss Budweiser, a hydroplane team, as it begins its 42nd year of competition. Straightline will handle pre-race, on-site, and post-race communications. The agency will coordinate its activities with Anheuser-Busch Sports Marketing.

LINCOLN, NE: Bailey Lauerman, a Nebraska-based marketing communications firm, has been hired by the Big 12 conference to handle communications research and PR consulting assignments.

NEW YORK: Graphics software developer Viewpoint has retained Financial Dynamics to provide IR strategy and support. Financial Dynamics will help develop an IR program to enhance the company's presence in the investment community. Viewpoint provides its software to companies including America Online, Adobe, and Toyota.

SAN FRANCISCO: Claudia Carasso has joined Cohn & Wolfe's Bay Area office as an SVP, where she will work with technology clients, such as Hewlett-Packard. Before Cohn & Wolfe, Carasso was an SVP and partner with Fleishman-Hillard and UpStart Communications. Flesher & Associates, a PR executive search firm, placed Carasso at Cohn & Wolfe.

CORRECTION: In the February 16 News Briefs section, Lisa Poulson, head of Kirkland Enterprise Group and part-time consultant to Citigate Cunningham, was incorrectly referred to as VP of Citigate.
