CHICAGO: Exelon, the Chicago-based energy company, has appointed Michael R. Metzner VP of investor relations and shareholder services.

Metzner was previously VP of strategy, planning, and evaluation for Exelon Generation, the company's energy-generating arm. He also has held positions in Exelon's power marketing and trading division. Before joining Peco (now part of Exelon) in 1999, Metzner spent 10 years with Atlantic Richfield, holding positions in business development and finance.

Metzner will report to CFO Bob Shapard. Exelon's IR manager, Marybeth Flater, and IR analyst, Isabel Fabre, will report to Metzner.

"I'm a conduit between Wall Street and our senior executive management," Metzner said. "We want to make sure we get investment information out to the investment community and that senior management is receiving what we are telling them."

He replaces Linda Byus, who left to pursue other interests.

Exelon distributes electricity to 5 million customers in Illinois and Pennsylvania, and gas to 440,000 customers in the Philadelphia area.
