NEW YORK: Andy Polansky has been named president of Weber Shandwick by firm CEO Harris Diamond. For the last year-and-a-half, Polansky had been president of Weber Shandwick North America.

Polanksy will now oversee the firm's global operations as part of an expansion of his current responsibilities. The move would seem to alleviate some oversight burden from Diamond, who also currently oversees the rest of parent company Interpublic Group's PR holdings. Those holdings include Golin/Harris International, MWW Group, and DeVries Public Relations.

Diamond denied that Polansky's increased authority was part of a larger succession plan for the firm. When pressed about a possible successor, he joked, "I plan to live forever."
