SAO PAULO, BRAZIL and NEW YORK: Three former Thomson Financial IR consultants in Brazil and one of the country's leading financial-communications advisers have formed a new IR and corporate communications firm there. The company, called GlobalRI, also announced that it has entered into an alliance with The Global Consulting Group (GCG), an IR, corporate communications, and public affairs agency in New York.

The three former Thomson consultants, now GlobalRI senior partners, are Curtis Smith, Doris Pompeu, and Dirceu Cunha. Industry veteran Christina Brentano is also joining them.

GlobalRI said the GCG affiliation would give it an international presence. GCG, a unit of the Huntsworth Group PLC, a communications firm in the UK, has a presence in London, Madrid, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Chicago, and Hong Kong. Huntsworth formed GCG in 2002, when it acquired Thomson Financial Global Consulting Group.

Richard Wolff, CEO of GCG, said the agency was familiar with the Brazil-based professionals because of that Thomson Financial connection. "In the Brazilian marketplace, it's an impactful move because they are arguably the leading IR and corporate communications consultants in the marketplace," Wolff said.
