LONDON: Burson-Marsteller has appointed 22-year agency stalwart Per Heggenes as UK CEO. Heggenes will move from New York to take the top UK role from Allan Biggar, who has become chairman of Burson's global corporate and financial unit.

Biggar will retain his title of non-executive chairman of Burson UK and will continue to be based in London. Biggar and Heggenes will take their new roles next month.

Chris Komisarjevsky, Burson worldwide's president and CEO, described the reshuffle as a "key step" in the ongoing implementation of a "strategic plan" to set up four global practice areas.

In addition to his UK role, Heggenes will become co-CEO of Burson's European operations alongside Carlos Lareau.

Heggenes will continue as worldwide chief knowledge and insights officer and director of worldwide affiliate relationships, despite his impending move.
