Washington, D.C - Fleishman-Hillard has acquired a majority interest in public affairs firm Stratacomm. Stratacomm focuses on transportation public affairs and maintains two offices in Washington, D.C. and Detroit, Michigan.
Stratacomm boasts the largest automotive public affairs practice in the country. Complementing its transportation practice, the firm has also expanded into food and beverage, environmental, and health and safety public affairs.
"The addition of Stratacomm... strengthens our leadership position in the Washington, D.C. market and adds a presence for us in the Detroit market as well," said John Graham, Fleishman-Hillard's chairman and CEO in a press release.
Stratacomm will operate independently as a Fleishman-Hillard company and maintain its existing offices under the leadership of Jeff Conley, Ron DeFore, and Diane Steed.
The three founding principals: Jeff Conley, Ron DeFore, and Diane Steed have extensive experience in the field. Conley was formerly the EVP and CFO of the E. Bruce Harrison Company (Ruder Finn) in Washington, D.C. DeFore was previously deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Transportation and director of public and consumer affairs, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Steed served as the longest-tenured administrator of the NHTSA where she initiated a nationwide public education campaign that resulted in the tripling of safety belt use by American motorists.
