NEW YORK: Chris Atkins, director of Ketchum's global corporate practice, is leaving the firm to become managing director of Ogilvy's global corporate practice.

Ketchum confirmed that Rob Flaherty, senior partner and MD of global practices, will cover the role in the interim while the firm searches for Atkins' replacement.

Atkins is replacing Ogilvy's Albert Tortorella, who is transitioning to the role of MD global crisis management, and relocating to Southern California.

"We are getting arguably one of the five or six leading people in the corporate practices in all the PR business," said Marcia Silverman, CEO of Ogilvy. "Our corporate business has been growing by leaps and bounds. We consider ourselves so lucky to have gotten somebody of this caliber."

"This is really not about Ketchum, because it's a great place," said Atkins. "Ogilvy has a lot of terrific success over the past couple of years and are poised for growth and made a compelling case to me it would be a good time to catch the wave."

Atkins said he is not taking any Ketchum staff or clients with him.
