SAN JOSE, CA: Kevin McGuirk, BEA Systems' VP of corporate communications, has left the company.

SAN JOSE, CA: Kevin McGuirk, BEA Systems' VP of corporate communications, has left the company.

Susan Siegel, director of press and analyst relations, confirmed that McGuirk's last day was March 31. The company is searching for his replacement, and SVP of marketing Mercedes Ellison is assuming his responsibilities in the meantime.

McGuirk, who had been with the enterprise-software company for two-and-a-half years, said in an e-mail, "I left on good terms in order to pursue personal interests. I'm taking some time off while I evaluate several options."

His departure will not have any impact on relations with BEA's PR agencies, including Brodeur Worldwide and Bite Communications, said Siegel.

Before joining BEA, McGuirk was VP of press and analyst relations at Oracle.
