ASHBURN, VA: MCI announced Tuesday that it emerged from the largest bankruptcy in US history with a new name, new board of directors, and new management team. However, the corporate communications side of the company has not been changed.

Brad Burns, MCI's SVP for corporate communications, reports to Grace Chen Trent, SVP of communications and chief of staff for chairman and CEO Michael Capellas.

"We're intending to push forward to promote the company's vision out of bankruptcy," said Peter Lucht, MCI's PR director.

MCI, formerly known as WorldCom, brought in Hill & Knowlton as its principal PR agency about 16 months ago, following the arrival of Capellas. H&K worked on investor and community relations, internal communications, and public affairs.

H&K is not the AOR for MCI, which used to work primarily with APCO Worldwide. The Merritt Group and the Harbour Group have worked for the company for years on a project basis.
