What regions are under-performing? GCI Group currently operates in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Australia. North America and Europe are our strongest performing regions due to significant new business wins and organic growth among our largest multinational clients located in global business centers (i.e. - New York, United Kingdom, and Germany). We are performing well in Latin America and Asia, but would like to expand our offerings in these regions to see growth in the future. What region do you plan to invest more resources in this year than you did one year ago and why? What region are you decreasing investment in and why? GCI is increasing its investment in the Asia-Pacific region. GCI plans to invest a significant amount of resources into building presence in Tokyo, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur in order to establish centers of excellence that specialize in such issues as internal communications, labor relations and change management. What new region/country will you consider entering this year and why? Are you considering international acquisitions or organic growth? GCI will invest in India. There is great value in forging relationships with India's knowledge base as well as talent pool and with the recent offshoring trend, more of our clients are looking for counsel as they establish offices there. We would like to leverage the expertise in the country to provide added value to our clients. Denmark - GCI Mannov GCI Mannov is doing pro bono work for "Danmark mod Landminer" ("Denmark against Landmines"), providing media relations. "Danmark mod Landminer" works for a mine-free world. Germany - GCI Berlin During the past two years, GCI Berlin has provided the following pro bono work: Deutsche AIDS-Stiftung / German Aids Foundation (in cooperation with the university of Mainz); Bundesverband Alphabetisierung / German Literacy Association (in cooperation with GREY Germany); BAUM - Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis Umweltbewusstes Management e.V. / German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management Israel - Stern-Ariely PR Stern-Ariely has done pro bono work for a bone marrow donation association and for "Aleh", an organisation for handicapped children. For the past nine years, Stern-Ariely has been supporting Beit Issie Shapiro, an organisation for children with delayed development, providing PR services on a minimal monthly retainer. Netherlands - GCI Holland Since 1999, GCI Holland has been working for the War Trauma Foundation, providing support with communication counsel and fundraising initiatives. The War Trauma Foundation is dedicated to the provision via aid organizations of training programs for trauma treatment, benefiting victims of war and systematic violence throughout the world. Since October 2003, GCI Holland has been working for children's' charity the Johan Cruyff Foundation. GCI Holland helps with programs to stimulate donations and fundraising as well as corporate initiatives to help the foundation to gain public recognition for its efforts. The Cruyff Foundation supports projects and organizations which endeavor to advance the mental and physical welfare of children through physical exercise, sports and play. Russia - APCO Moscow Tatiana Berls, APCO Moscow's managing director, is a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters International and is assisting pro bono its effort in Russia. Slovenia - GCI Ljubljana GCI Adriatic/Ljubljana works for Ljubljana Zoo, providing media relations and crisis management. GCI Ljubljana prepared a sponsorship strategy, tried to persuade donators, prepared presentations for different publics etc. Sweden - GCI Gothenburg For the past 4-5 years, GCI Gothenburg has been providing free work for the East Indiaman G?theburg, which was formed in 1993 to manage, keep and develop shipyard, shipbuilding, and shipping activities included in the East Indiaman G?theborg project. Switzerland - Musqueteers AG * Ronald Haug, managing partner, is a board member of Stiftung Wunderlampe which helps children with serious illnesses fulfill their dreams or wishes; and the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Protection, which promotes higher quality of animal homes and animal protection projects. UK GCI Healthcare in the UK supports the patient support charity Arthritis Care and its annual Dragon Boat Race held in London's Docklands. Additionally, GCI Healthcare provides appropriate pro bono support to charities and not-for-profits when activities have been arranged involving them and funded by our commercial clients. GCI also provides a range of pro bono services for The WellChild Trust, which is the UK's leading charity caring for sick children.
