ROUND ROCK, TX: Dell has selected its VP of IR to lead the company's corporate communications activities.

Lynn Tyson, now VP of IR and corporate communications, will oversee strategic direction and global oversight of corporate communications, as well as continuing to manage relationships with investors and financial analysts. Tyson joined Dell in April 2000.

Jess Blackburn, senior manager of corporate communications, confirmed Dell had made the internal selection.

Dell shook up its global communications team in April, removing its top two communications executives - VP of corporate communications Elizabeth Allen and VP of communications Tim Doke - and placing them into unspecified corporate communications roles.

Doke left Dell earlier this month to become VP of corporate communications at Freescale Semiconductor, Motorola's semiconductor unit that is spinning off into a separate company. Blackburn confirmed that Allen is still with Dell.

Dell declined to comment on what led to the change in leadership. Dwayne Cox, director of communications for Dell's US consumer division, was the interim head of global communications during the search.
