Chick turns down Fleishman bill for its Port of LA work

LOS ANGELES: City Controller Laura Chick last week rejected a Fleishman-Hillard invoice.

LOS ANGELES: City Controller Laura Chick last week rejected a Fleishman-Hillard invoice.

Chick "has returned an invoice for $2,200 that was for work at the Port of Los Angeles," said her communications director, Rob Wilcox, adding that Chick was now examining billings from port and airport contracts, as well as the Department of Water and Power (DWP). The invoice was rejected for failing to adequately describe services.

"We will cooperate with her fully in every way in evaluating both the work we did for DWP and any other city agencies," said Richard Kline, Fleishman regional president and LA GM. "We'll review it and give her the detail and explanation she requires."

In a separate announcement, the city Ethics Commission announced plans to probe all DWP, airport, and harbor contracting practices.
