Online pharmacy offers discount on drugs during RNC

NEW YORK: At least one Canadian online pharmacy is using the Republican National Convention this week to bolster support for drug importation.

NEW YORK: At least one Canadian online pharmacy is using the Republican National Convention this week to bolster support for drug importation.

Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Universaldrugstore.com and its New York PR firm, Jericho Communications, are using media outreach and the web to promote a 25% discount on all prescriptions filled during President Bush's acceptance speech.

After every American order, the pharmacy also will donate one meal to the charity Meals on Wheels - to draw attention to senior citizens struggling to pay for food because of drug costs.

"We [want] to get the word out that Canadian drug pharmacies are reputable and safe," said Jericho VP Maryann Palumbo.

The announcement comes less than a week after Vermont became the first state to sue the Food and Drug Administration to allow drug importation.
