PR people will benefit from 'Passion'

Remember when there was no such thing as PR, or at least when it was a fledgling industry? Cushman does.

Remember when there was no such thing as PR, or at least when it was a fledgling industry? Cushman does.

This book looks into his illustrious career as the PR man for some of Hollywood's biggest acts of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Among his clients: Sammy Davis Jr. and the Three Stooges.

The book shows how Cushman got his start in the business after World War II. It chronicles a fascinating 50-plus-year career in the industry that went from working out of his Chicago apartment with just a handful of clients to starting what has become a top independent firm, Aaron D. Cushman and Associates (now Cushman/Amberg Communications).

Passion is a must-read for anyone starting out in PR, but it's also useful for established pros. Cushman's hard work, savvy, and PR passion are all on display. One thing the book makes clear is that while the media outlets may have expanded over time, the guidelines of success have basically stayed the same.
