In the first few days of the Republican National Convention, the press concluded most often that the GOP was successfully promoting itself as a centrist and moderate party. Popular speakers like John McCain, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Rudy Giuliani were often viewed as more successful than speakers at the Democratic convention.
