HONOLULU: McNeil Wilson Communications has won a renewal of its Kauai Visitors Bureau account after a competitive review.

The $175,000 annual account has not been up for review in about four years, according to McNeil Wilson account executive Emele Freiberg. She added that her agency has held the business for seven years. The renewal takes the account through 2005.

An RFP went out in July, and the final round of presentations came down to McNeil Wilson and The Limtiaco Company, also based in Honolulu, said Freiberg.

She described the account work as focused on travel media.

"Mainly we bring out writers to visit the island," she said. "That's the best way for us to promote it."

In addition to two press trips planned for next year, the agency will also conduct two "media blitzes," visiting travel media in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. It is also planning a photography contest.
