NEW YORK: Financial communications firm Citigate Sard Verbinnen has named Hugh Burns as managing director and partner.

Burns joined the firm in 2000 as a principal and was named the firm's general counsel in 2002.

Before joining Sard in 2000, Burns was a senior associate in the litigation department at Latham & Watkins, focused on securities, international, and complex-commercial litigation and arbitration. He also previously served as an associate in the litigation department of Sullivan & Cromwell.

"Since joining us four year ago, Hugh has helped to build and strengthen the firm both through his exemplary client counsel and service and through his non-client work," said George Sard, chairman and CEO, in a release.

Sard, founded in 1992, is part of London-based Incepta Group.
