LOS ANGELES: In a bid to further increase the strength of its entertainment marketing and brand marketing practices, Ketchum has made two promotions and hired a product placement expert.

Mark Malinowski, formerly director and creative director of Ketchum Entertainment Marketing (KEM), is moving to the New York brand marketing practice as SVP/ director. Malinowski founded KEM four years ago with Tom Freydl.

Freydl will now take over KEM as East Coast managing director of the practice. New hire and product-placement specialist Mark Owens, most recently with Davie-Brown Entertainment, will become West Coast director at KEM.

"Ketchum Entertainment Marketing is definitely a piece of our growth strategy for our agency, both because of our organic growth, but also because of the ability to leverage entertainment marketing with so many of our major clients across the Ketchum network," said Ketchum partner and director of the New York office Dale Bornstein. "Everyone wants a piece of the entertainment space and it has certainly grown over the last two years."

Bornstein added that KEM would focus on offering a "holistic" approach to entertainment marketing that includes PR, product placement, and celebrity "influencer relationship management," among other offerings.
