NEW YORK: Dan Klores has launched his own film and TV production company, called Shoot the Moon. Klores has directed a number of film and stage projects, including documentary The Boys of 2nd Street Park and Ring of Fire: The Emile Griffith Story, which will play at The Sundance Film Festival.

WASHINGTON: Retiring Republican Congressman Jack Quinn will become president of government affairs firm Cassidy & Associates in January. A six-term congressman from western New York, Quinn was chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railroads and also served on the veterans' affairs committee. Marty Russo, who had been president of the firm, will become CEO and senior vice chairman.

NEW YORK: Retailer Saks Incorporated has hired Linn Tanzman as VP of communications and publicity at Saks Fifth Avenue. Most recently, Tanzman served as director of PR at Vogue.

NEW YORK: Bruce MacKenzie has joined MS&L as SVP, director of entertainment and pop culture marketing. He will be based in the New York consumer marketing group and will head the firm's team of entertainment marketing specialists. MacKenzie was most recently the entertainment and properties director at Tracy Locke, a division of Omnicom.

SEATTLE: Caroline Boren has joined Alaska Airlines as MD of corporate and strategic communications. She will lead the company's media relations and corporate and internal communications. Boren comes to Alaska Airlines from Waggener Edstrom and has previously led PR for Western Wireless and VoiceStream Wireless.

FARMINGTON, CT: Your PR Department has been named AOR of the Farmington Valley Visitors Association, leading the tourism group's 2005 marketing and PR campaign nationwide.

NEW YORK: Maloney & Fox will launch a holiday campaign for Diageo's Godiva Liqueur brand. The program will introduce the brand in beauty salons.

NEW YORK: Perry Ellis has selected New York-based LaForce & Stevens to handle PR for its Cubavera brand. LaForce has worked on other Perry Ellis brands, such as Jantzen and Original Penguin. The Cubavera line began selling nationally in department stores in 2000.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL: South Africa-based JustEnough, a software firm, has selected Tech Image to handle PR in the US. JustEnough specializes in demand and category-management software for retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and distributors.

WASHINGTON: Widmeyer Communications has been chosen by the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division as the latest addition to its risk communications practice.

SAN FRANCISCO: Dorland Global Health Communications has named Joe Soto, a long-time industry veteran, as GM of the San Francisco office. Soto joined Dorland last year as an EVP.

NEW YORK: PR veteran Ben Billingsley has joined CooperKatz & Company as manager, client services. He was previously director of accounts and business development at Trylon Communications.
