Ketchum teaming up with Slattery to enter Irish market

DUBLIN: Ketchum is taking its first steps onto Irish soil through a partnership with Dublin-based Slattery Communications.

DUBLIN: Ketchum is taking its first steps onto Irish soil through a partnership with Dublin-based Slattery Communications.

The partnership, which does not involve an exchange of equity, will place Slattery on Ketchum's international roster of affiliates and bring the Omnicom firm into a country where it has long sought to operate.

Slattery will communicate with Ketchum's London office, led by CEO David Gallagher.

The companies have been in talks since the summer and have already pitched business together, said Gallagher.

"They're well-respected, have the same way of looking at the world, and are one of the largest independents in the market," Gallagher said of Slattery. He added that the companies share a complementary client base without overlaps or conflicts.

"A lot of our multinational clients [seek] help in Ireland," said Gallagher. "And Dublin has all the promise of the London market: a skilled, English-speaking work force and a good airport."

He added that further down the road, it was possible that Ketchum would open up its own agency in the country.

Slattery Communications is led by founder and CEO Paidraig Slattery, and was founded in 1982. The agency specializes in corporate, consumer, and sports work. Clients include Allianz, BDO Simpson Xavier, Guinness, the Irish Rugby Football Union, Microsoft, and McDonald's.
