WASHINGTON: Jonathan Grella, former press secretary for House majority leader Tom DeLay, has joined Edelman as VP of public affairs.

Leslie Dach, Edelman vice chairman, cited Grella's media skills, contacts, and knowledge of Capitol Hill as boons to the agency. Grella began talks with Edelman about a month ago.

"He joins a team that can help our clients design and implement campaigns that are meant to change the climate on Capitol Hill," Dach said. "His experience and contacts will make our team stronger."

Grella's duties include crisis communications, reputation management, and public affairs work. Grella will also tap his experience with members of Congress and the Washington political scene.

Grella held his press secretary position for four years. Before joining DeLay's team, Grella served as spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
