SAN CARLOS, CA: Kelly-Moore Paints, the largest employee-owned paint company in the US, is planning to build visibility of its brand, including the addition of 11 new stores in California.
With a hot real-estate market in California and the growing popularity of home-improvement TV programs, the company sees an opportunity to build its brand.
Kelly-Moore, which does not have an in-house PR team and had not retained an agency previously, has hired San Francisco-based Singer Associates to spearhead customer outreach.
"The real-estate market is red-hot right now in the Bay Area, and every one of those projects needs paint on the walls," said Jason Barnett, senior account executive. Singer will focus on both homeowners and professional painters.
Singer will help the firm highlight its community involvement in each city it has a store, added Barnett. Kelly-Moore has more than 150 stores in nine states.
Bay Area home prices are 20% higher today than they were a year ago, with the median home price reaching $556,000. Meanwhile, the popularity of shows like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the Do It Yourself Network are fueling a renewed interest in home-improvement projects.
