CHICAGO: Liz Van Lenten has become MD of Burson-Marsteller's Chicago brand marketing practice, a 30-member team. She reports to Linda Recupero, US brand marketing practice chairwoman. Van Lenten previously led her own marketing communications firm.

CHICAGO: Dresner Corporate Services has hired Stephen Schulz as EVP and director of East Coast operations in its new Boston office. Schulz had been director of corporate governance programs at Shareholder.com.

WASHINGTON: US Newswire has partnered with PR Direct to distribute information to newsrooms across Canada. PR Direct is owned and operated by The Canadian Press, the country's national news agency.

NEW YORK: Rabin Strategic Partners has hired Charles Borgognoni as a partner. Before joining, Borgognoni held corporate communications posts at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Becton, Dickinson & Co.

WALNUT CREEK, CA: The PMI Group has hired Beth Haiken as assistant VP of PR and Bill Horning as VP of IR. PMI is an international provider of credit-enhancement products and lender services. Both Haiken and Horning come from Providian Financial, where she was VP of PR, and he was VP of IR.

SACRAMENTO: Jami Warner, EVP and GM of Edelman's Sacramento office, has left the agency to work as an independent consultant. Edelman has named Adam Silber as acting GM as it searches for a permanent replacement.

WALTHAM, MA: CHEN PR has added two new clients: IT security company Application Security and AlwaysOn 2005, an event from Tony Perkins, founding editor of Upside magazine and Red Herring. CHEN will work with event producers to find CEOs of East Coast-based start-up companies to present at the conference.
