SAN ANTONIO, TX: Clear Channel Communications has named Lisa Dollinger as its first-ever chief communications officer. She previously was SVP of corporate communications.

One of Dollinger's key initiatives, she said, will be to strengthen the company's internal communications plan, focusing on Clear Channel's 65,000 employees, 55,000 of which are in the United States.

"Employee communications is critical," she said. "Our employees need to be aware of the facts."

She said that previously the company focused on getting an accurate portrayal of Clear Channel in the media.

"We're excited to take some of the lessons that we learned from external constituencies," she said, adding that she will go on a "listening tour" to meet with employees around the country about their concerns, much like she did with the media two years ago.

"We saw there was an opportunity to do even more," she said. "This is just [taking it] one step further."
