PARIS: Publicis Groupe tallied revenues of $1.14 billion in the first quarter of the year, an organic growth rate of 4% from $1.06 billion in the first quarter of 2004. That growth rate was in line with the yearly rate posted for all of 2004.

North American revenue accounted for nearly 45% of the total, with a growth rate close to 5%. European revenue, about 40% of the group's total, grew at about 2%. Asia and Latin America, which combined for 14% of total revenues, grew at 7% and 4%, respectively.

The holding company also touted $1.5 billion in new business in the first quarter.

Publicis, which does not break out quarterly earnings for public relations earnings specifically, is the fourth-largest holding company behind Omnicom, WPP, and Interpublic.

Publicis' PR agencies include MS&L and Publicis Dialog. Last month, Publicis re-organized all its PR agencies under a single entity, led by Lou Capozzi, fomer MS&L CEO, in a quest to fuel growth.
