NEW YORK: Interpublic (IPG) last week named Steve Centrillo EVP and chief growth officer, a role meant to encourage collaboration between the holding company's diverse stable of firms. The post reports directly to IPG CEO Michael Roth.

Centrillo is the former EVP and managing partner of darkGrey, a firm focusing on integrated communications for tech clients. Kevin Allen, who has held the growth officer role since its creation two years ago, is relocating to London to lead IPG's business development in Europe.

Allen was ranked as an SVP, but Centrillo will be an EVP, signaling the priority that the financially troubled company places on organic growth and cross-referring clients. IPG has yet to release its earnings numbers for the fourth quarter and full year of 2004 due to an ongoing review of its internal accounting.
