LOS ANGELES: GolinHarris has won the California Avocado Commission (CAC) account after a competitive review.

The agency beat out finalists Burson-Marsteller and Ogilvy PR, after a quick but intensive search lead by Santa Monica, CA-based Select Resources International.

Dan Orsborn, head of SRI's PR review division, said, "It was a very competitive review...but Golin seemed to be the right fit."

Orsborn previously described the work as being a "high-six figure" account.

The California Avocado Commission is based in Irvine, CA, and represents both in-state avocado growers as well as international importers. The organization had been working with a local firm for a number of years, but decided it needed a multinational to help it expand its efforts and provide the ability to do global work. The search also focused in part on firms that could handle crisis and Hispanic market work, and that had a local office.
