AUBURN, AL: Auburn PR professor Robert French has created PRBlogs.org, a service offering free blog hosting to PR instructors, students, and practitioners.

The service already has forty bloggers, most of which are Auburn students. But the service is being made available to anyone in the PR industry.

French has long been an outspoken proponent of the positive impact the new media environment could have on the PR trade. He requires his students to set up a blog and leave at least two comments on PR practioners' blogs per week. He calls this experience "online mentoring."

French said the goal of the offer is to help students become better equipped to deal with blogs. He also envisions the students' blogs as a way to attract employers.

"PRBlogs.org can be a long-term home for PR students' blogs or a place where they test the waters," French said.
