NEW YORK: Financial Dynamics has opened an office in Hong Kong, marking the agency's first move into the sought-after Asian market.Diana Footit, former head of North Asia operations for the London-based financial communications specialist firm Citigate Dewe Rogerson, has been tapped to head the new outpost. The agency is somewhat late to the game in Asia, a region that is fast becoming a necessary location for PR firms with an international presence. "We recognize that there is an emerging opportunity, which in fact has been there for some time now," said Declan Kelly, FD's US CEO. "We take some time to study the market and understand it before we make a deliberate step." Kelly said that the new office is open for business with a small staff, but that FD is seeking to hire more. The agency plans to offer its full range of services in the Hong Kong office once it is fully staffed. Existing FD clients with Asian interests can now be serviced on the ground in Hong Kong rather than out of US or European offices. "We already have a number of clients who do business in Asia, and we have a number of Asian clients," said Kelly. "It enables us to have service at both ends of the spectrum." FD has also opened offices in Chicago and Mumbai, India in the past year. Kelly said more openings might be in store. "We're always looking at exciting opportunities, so I think you can safely assume that we're doing that on a daily basis," he said.
