WASHINGTON: The Caraway Group has hired David Albritton, former top PR exec for the United Way of America, as SVP of communications.

His role will involve managing existing client accounts and driving new business.

"When [president and CEO Yolanda Caraway] found that her number two person was leaving, she let me know [about] this opportunity," Albritton said. "I hadn't been looking."

Albritton left the United Way on September 9. The company is now conducting interviews to find a replacement for him, said Sheila Consaul, director of media relations for the United Way.

Albritton also has served as Hewlett-Packard PR director and in senior PR posts with Compaq Computer and Sears.

The Caraway Group's clients include Microsoft, Heinz Family Foundations, and MGM Mirage.
