LONDON: Warner Brothers has put out a call for a single agency to

handle PR for both its consumer product and studio store divisions in

the UK.

A six-way competition for the business is underway, with a group of

senior communications VPs from Warner Brothers’ California headquarters

presently in the UK to lead the agency search.

While specific details about the account have yet to be determined, Tina

Fipps, PR and marketing manager for studio stores, said fees will likely

be in the high six-figure range.

The consumer product division account, previously held by the Wright

Partnership, covers all of Europe and will focus on licensing agreements

for brands such as Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo and

Superman.

The business was taken in-house several months ago after both parties

mutually agreed the work was too trade-focused for the agency.

The studio stores account will focus only on the UK, covering PR for

Warner’s 15 UK stores.

The business was most recently handled by EMPR, which closed late last

year following a freakish series of events, including its Covent Garden

offices being gutted by fire.

Other Warner Brothers divisions that have recently appointed PR agencies

in the UK, include Warner Village Cinemas, which hired HDM at the

beginning of last month, and Warner Home Video, which uses both Peter

Noble PR and Ketchum Life on a project basis.
