LONDON: Novartis Consumer Health has appointed Red Rooster Beauty

and Consumer PR to handle public relations for all of its health and

therapeutic products.

The account, which covers 11 brands, was awarded after a competitive

four-way pitch. Among the participants was Bloomsbury Communications,

which had previously handled several of the brands, including Tixylix

and Savlon.

According to a Novartis statement, the reason for the agency shift was

to promote ’synergy and economies of scale across the board.’ Red

Rooster already handles PR in the UK for several Novartis products,

including Nicotinell, a nicotine replacement, and Piz Buin, a

sunscreen.

’Red Rooster won because of their creative concepts and ability to

provide a strong consumer push,’ said James Ball, director of brand

franchise marketing at Novartis. ’Trade activity is essential for our

brands, but we felt an equal balance was needed.’

The agency will handle products including Tixylix, the UK’s best-selling

children’s cough mixture; Savlon, the country’s top-selling antiseptic

cream; and Lypsyl, currently number two in the lip-balm market. Red

Rooster will also develop and implement initiatives for Piz Buin’s

fake-tan products and continue Tixylix’s association with the Action for

Sick Children charity.
