BOSTON: In the wake of Omnicom’s acquisition of McDermott/O’Neill &

Associates (now GPC/O’Neill) in October, SVP and MD Geri Denterlein has

decided to leave the agency to open her own communications and issues

management shop.

The new agency, Denterlein Worldwide, will be headquartered in Boston

and will specialize in healthcare, public policy and corporate

communications.

’It was a natural point of transition,’ said Denterlein. ’I was faced

with a decision to move into the new Omnicom world or do it on my

own.’

Denterlein is taking four GPC/O’Neill clients with her, including

Children’s Hospital. The agency agreed to the arrangement, she

noted.

’Some of those clients were ones she brought in and worked with

predominantly,’ confirmed GPC/O’Neill VP Andrew Paven. Both parties

described her departure as amicable.

Denterlein said that she is in talks with several other potential

clients not affiliated with GPC/O’Neill. While she is currently

operating solo and temporarily working out of GPC/O’Neill’s offices as

she scouts out new space, she plans to hire three to five employees by

year-end. She will continue to work on other GPC/O’Neill accounts

through June.

During her seven years with GPC/O’Neill, Denterlein is credited with

having set the direction for the firm’s growth in PR and marketing. She

oversaw nearly 30 clients, mentored staff and led new business

development teams.
