ADELAIDE: Crisis-management specialist Rann Communications has

offered to help restore the image of the once-blissful Snowtown

following one of Australia’s grisliest murder cases.

Snowtown was thrust into the headlines last year when eight bodies were

found partially dissolved in barrels of acid in an abandoned bank

vault.

Since then, the town has become somewhat of a morbid tourist attraction,

with some local businesses going so far as to sell souvenirs

commemorating the incident.

Rann, which offers assistance on a pro bono basis to two ’worthy’ causes

every year, will work with the recently formed Snowtown Action Group on

a three-year effort to restore the town’s image. Preliminary ideas

designed to improve the town’s profile include applying for government

grants and attempting to lure cultural events to the area.

’We can’t erase what happened, but we can help the town move on,’ said

agency CEO Chris Rann.
