Edelman seizes Nissan business

In an effort to shave marketing costs, Nissan had asked its two PR firms

to duke it out for the account (PRWeek, Dec. 6, 1999). ’We want one

agency to do it all,’ said VP of corporate communications Jason

Vines.



The consolidation is a major part of Nissan’s ongoing PR revamp. Last

year, the company created a single communications department for Europe

and centralized lobbying efforts under Vines.



Vines did not say how much Nissan will save by cutting Shandwick loose,

other than that the amount is likely in the six-figure range.
