The 2000-2001 Occupational Outlook Handbook by the Bureau of Labor

Statistics shows that the number of marketing, advertising and PR

managers was up less than 1% between 1996 and 1998. At the same time,

the number of PR specialists and/or publicity writers rose 11% to

122,300.



In its projections for 1998-2008, the OOH study predicts that, at 35%,

growth in PR jobs will remain above average. Figures from the current

population survey estimate there were 190,000 PR pros in 1999, up

12%.
